Accounting, payroll, and tax for Kent businesses

The Kent Valley moves goods for the whole West Coast. We keep the books for the service businesses that keep it running.

Kent, Washington

Built for how Kent does business

Kent's valley is one of the busiest distribution corridors on the West Coast, and around it runs an economy of installers, field-service companies, repair shops, and contractors. These are businesses with real payroll, real equipment on the books, and owners who need more than a once-a-year tax appointment.

The local tax picture

Kent levies its own city B&O tax alongside Washington state B&O, and equipment-heavy businesses have extra reasons to keep clean books: personal property tax on that equipment, depreciation schedules that actually affect your tax bill, and 1099 tracking for every sub you bring onto a job. We handle all of it on a monthly rhythm.

Straight answers

Kent questions, answered

Does Kent have a city B&O tax?

Yes, since 2013. Kent's gross receipts tax applies once gross income passes $250,000 a year ($62,500 a quarter for quarterly filers), in addition to Washington state B&O. We prepare both and track where your revenue is earned when jobs cross city lines.

We own a lot of equipment. Does that change the accounting?

It should. Equipment means depreciation schedules, personal property tax filings, and decisions about when to buy. We record assets properly and time major purchases with your tax plan, not after it.

How close are you to Kent?

Our Federal Way office is about 15 minutes away, and you are welcome to swing by any time. Most clients prefer video calls; we would rather save you the drive than have you sit in Valley traffic.
